Cervinia, Italy
The Italian resort of Cervinia is located on the Italian side of a mountain called the Cervino, on the other side, in Switzerland, is the resort of Zermatt and locals here refer to the mountain as the Matterhorn. The two resorts are linked up by three large valleys that combine to create a ski area with 350km of pistes. With a village at just over 2000m and skiing up to 3800m, Cervinia is Italy's most snow-sure resort and also the most popular resort in Italy with the Brits. Cervinia specialises in wide open cruising pistes and may lack a little something for the more advanced skiers although the link over the peak to Zermatt is your best bet for hitting up some challenging lines.
