22yr old Swiss speed demon Carlo Janka won the men's giant slalom in Val D'Isere on Saturday. Janka overcame a bad mistake after overcompensating on the icy slopes of Bellevarde but regained composure and stole the lead two thirds of the way through the precarious course. He whisked past reigning Olympic champion Benjamin Raich of Austria who was tipped for the top spot, but was 0.71 seconds too slow.
