With the World Cup Finals well underway in Are, this is a pretty big week for Swedish skiing. US skier Lindsey Vonn performed to her usual first class standard in the downhill, and clinched the World Title for the second consecutive year. Vonn smashed the course in a lightening 1minute 42.49 seconds. The course, which was designed by Swiss downhill innovator Bertrand Russi, is one that Lindsey has excelled on before, two years ago she won two silver medals in the downhill and the Super-G at the World Championships on it. Vonn said of the last year's achievements: 'It's been a long season, its been difficult and challenging, but i'm really happy that it's over.' We can assume that after a well deserved few months R&R, Vonn will be back with a vengeance for the 2009-10 season.
