A student froze to death under a 30ft snowdrift on her walk home from a lively party in the well-known resort of Val d'Isere. 20yr old Durham University student Rachel Ward died after a night out with friends on a holiday that was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime. It is thought that Rachel, who had traces of alcohol in her system, slipped on the ice and later died of hypothermia. On The Piste, the company responsible for the trip provides holidays for students based almost exclusively on alcohol and youth drinking culture.
