A bodyguard to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie died tragically in a ski accident at the French resort of Alpe D'Huez with his wife, Royal Protection Officer Emma Probert last week. According to an official from the resort of Villard-Reculus, Mrs Probert is absolutely inconsolable: 'She spent the whole day with us yesterday and is very upset. The accident happened right in front of her.' The Proberts were part of a close-knit team in the UK who are employed to guard the princesses 24 hours a day. Mr Probert, who is from St Albans, Herts was an inexperienced skier, who lost control of his skies on a low gradient blue run and slid over 100ft before coming to a stop in a ravine below. Although a rescue team arrived in minutes, 43 year old Probert was pronounced dead at the scene. Condolences have been sent on behalf of the Duchess of York and her family.
