Newmilns Snow and Sports Complex (NSASC) in the Irvine Valley, East Ayrshire is set to receive a £2.9million makeover that proposes to make it 'one of the best ski centres in Scotland.' The NSASC is a charity group and won a £150,000 lottery grant to assist in these ambitious expansion plans. Bobby, a volunteer at Newmilns, said: 'Once we get planning approval, we will need to go back to the Big Lottery and other grant awarding bodies to ask them for funding for the main project. The earliest date that these plans could be a reality is winter 2009 and 2010. We may have to close down for two or three months for some of the building work.' Either way, it seems that in a few years, the dusty old perma-snow dry ski matting may be such an antiquity that it might be worth something. Grab your squares now!
