British snowboarder Jenny Jones may not necessarily be a household name, but after this weekend, there is absolutely no doubt that she is at the very top of her game. She has never had a chance to showcase her talents at the Winter Olympics, because her pet event, Slopestyle, is not listed as an official competition. This did not stop her absolutely kicking Ass-pen at the Winter X Games on Sunday 25th January, after a glowing second run. Jones knew that her first run was not going to hit the top spot, so she knew that for her last chance, she had to pull out all the stops; 'I just had to go for it on the last run with the last jump, an 80 front side 720... I had not practiced it all day and it was just kind of hit and hope... I just made it down, landed and rode away with no hands down.'
Aspen's Winter X was not so kind to fellow Brit Zoe Gillings, who crashed out of the semi-finals of the Snowboarder-X, finishing 12th with an injured heel and being unable to participate in the consolation final.
