Protect our Winters (POW) is a tax exempt, non-profit organisation dedicated to reversing the global warming crisis by uniting the winter sports community and focussing our collective efforts towards a common goal. The good folks at Vans, (who I?m sure need no further introduction) have teamed up with POW to launch an environmentally friendly snowboard boot for the 2009/10 season. Vans ?Veil? and ?Cirro? board boots are being specially created using 100% recycled PET textile and non toxic, water based solvents, but riding ability will of course not be compromised as the boots are designed using the award winning Vans BOA focus system. POW founder, Jeremy Jones said: ?We?re proud to be such an integral part of this project with Vans- they?ve really taken it to the next level by looking internally and taking the necessary steps to fight climate change by changing their design and their manufacturing process. It?s exciting and we hope it influences the rest of the industry.? The boots will be available to purchase this Autumn so you can effortlessly do your bit for the environment by snapping some on your feet!
