The Burton Global Open kicked off back in July 2008 with the New Zealand Open, and after 8 months of gruelling competition and obscenely sick tricks, the series' shenanigans came to a close at Stratton Mountain, Vermont this weekend. American Chas Guldemond walked away with the fullest wallet in Burton Global Open history: a colossal $145,000. He was understandably happy: 'I really wanted to do good on the Global Open Series, but I never planned on this. I really appreciate the people above who took care of me, and everything along the way. It was such a great day.' Guldemond ended the day as Series Champion and also king of the Slopestyle. Peetu Piiroinen from Finland claimed Swatch TTR World Tour Champion for the 2008/9 season and walked away with an impressive $50,000 and Scotty Lago came third in the Slopestyle, earning himself the keys to a brand new Volvo XC60 for winning the US Open Quarter pipe competition.
