Utah's Wasatch mountain back country has been put on avalanche alert following a huge storm on Monday. 'This vigorous storm has produced one and a half feet of snow since this morning in many areas,' reported Bruce Tremper, the area's Avalanche Centre Director on 9th Feb. 'Natural avalanches are occurring on many steep slopes. An avalanche warning has been issued for the Wasatch Mountains from the Utah Idaho border to Mt Nebo.' Provo and Ogden mountains received over a foot of snow on Monday compared to neighbouring Salt Lake City's few inches, but this week has seen a serious turn of events as Salt Lake got a flurry of nearly 18inches within an hour. The Avalanche Centre (or should that be Center) reported that snow conditions for the week will be staying the same, or getting heavier over the next few days. Tread carefully!
