An air of confusion surrounds the skiing accident at Mont Tremblant, Quebec that has left actress Natasha Richardson hospitalised and possibly 'brain dead.' The wife of Liam Neeson and daughter of Vanessa Redgrave endured a fall during a private ski lesson with a Tremblant instructor on the beginner's slope. Initially, there were no signs of injury or any immediate problems and Richardson was walking and talking with no difficulty. An hour later and Richardson was rushed to hospital in an ambulance and reported to be in a critical condition. Neeson, who was filming in Toronto, flew by private jet to be at his wife's side and has since made arrangements for her to be transferred to New York City. The accident sparks yet more fire in the debate on whether helmets should be made compulsory, if at least for beginners. It also opens up questions as to how safe skiing really is.
