The weather might be getting warmer but the world of Red Bull Snowboarding remains as cool as ever. Despite the summer heat, 50 of the top riders from East Coast US will be dusting off their boards on Thursday 9 July to compete in the Red Bull Buttercup at Snow Park Niagara Falls.

Snowboarders from throughout the Northeast and US will go head-to-head in a jam formatted event, carving and spreading the snow like butter for the chance to win $5,000 in cash and prizes. Overall style and creativity will help the cream rise to the top but only tricks that include buttering will count for judging, so riders will need to be ready to spread it on in this purely pasteurized competition! (Sorry.)

The Buttercup is yet another event created by Red Bull and designed to give something back to the boarding community. The initial series took place back in February this year and visited Maine, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and New York, finding die-hard boarders across all five states willing to brave the freezing temperatures in search of a good time.

The action returns to New York state next week where snowboarders will see how much style they can spread onto the custom-built Red Bull 'butterpad'. Riders need to jib, bonk, tap and slide their way across the multi-featured pad in any way they like just so long as they make sure it's laid on with a lot of smooth buttering.

This is the first event of its kind in the Niagara Falls region and the competition will take place under lights at the base of the Snow Park Niagara Falls snow hill. The Snow Park is located in downtown Niagara Falls and its SnowMagic technology can make snow in ANY temperature, prolonging winter fun all summer long. Other summer activities include an NHL size rink with artificial ice, a snow play area and a tubing hill that will be converted for the Red Bull Buttercup features.
