MAXIMUM SUNSHINE - Located on a south-facing plateau 1860m above sea level, the resort and pistes of Alpe d'Huez enjoy maximum amounts of daily sunshine up to 7.5 hours in December and 11 hours in April. The French meteorological service records an average of 300 sunny days here per year.

CHANGES IN ALTITUDE - Alpe d'Huez is the only resort in France where you can ski 8000m down four fantastic routes and enjoy one descent of more than 2000m without taking a ski lift. Try your skill, day or night, on the world's longest piste, the 16km Sarenne -perfect for competent skiers and anyone who loves something a bit out of the ordinary. Enjoy moonlit evenings and various special events throughout the season.

GET ACTIVE WITH VISALP. The multi-activity Visalp Pass gives free access to the whole ski area as well as the chance to enjoy a wealth of other leisure activities. Try night skiing or cross-country skiing; have fun at a choice of three local ice rinks and two heated pools; play indoor sports at the leisure centre or relax to a classical music concert in the church of Notre-Dame des Neiges.

OUR LOCAL CHAMPION - Alpe d'Huez is the favourite training centre of Ophelie David, local champion in ski-cross, a sport inspired by motorbike cross country races. Ophélie has been dominating the sport since 2004 and was winner of the X-Games in 2007, 2008 and 2009, as well as being World Champion on six occasions, so all local hopes will be on her in Vancouver when ski cross becomes an Olympic sport. Back home, Alpe d'Huez will be hosting the Ski-Cross World Cup next winter.

GUARANTEED SNOW - Alpe d'Huez can always guarantee good skiing conditions thanks
to its high altitude, regular snowfall and snow cannons.
